Emerson Motor Company

New vehicles:

We have gained market share in the compact sedan market by 0.8 percent and in the coupe market by 0.9 percent. During the same time, we experienced a decrease in the luxury market by 0.1 percent and the mid-size sedan market by 0.2 percent. To combat these decreases, we have introduced for 1969 a top range Emerson BKS 505 L and Allure Bay L, with the latter being renamed Allure Bay by the 1970 model year, with the other model change being the standard 1968 Allure Bay transition to a Sport model. While both models have been well received by the customer, we still have more work to do to increase market share in these markets.

Construction projects:

We have adjusted manufacturing in the New York, New York, area with the transition of the Allure Essence SPV and the increase in quality in this facility, which completed the second phase of our construction project. The third phase will go into effect in 11 months at the Detroit, Michigan manufacturing facility which will increase vehicle quality.

Pensions:

Our pension through negotiation with the staff elected union has increased by $1,146, while this is largely due to the increase in staff that comes with the manufacturing facility increases, which drastically increased the monthly payout for the 1966 year by $555,813. This will increase again by 1970 with the third phase of construction completion in Detroit, Michigan, which will increase our focus on management efforts on the balance between staffing, union wages, and vehicle quality.

Thank you,

Edward J. Emerson,

CEO of Emerson Motor Company
