Emerson Performance Reintroduces the BKM SV-4 as the 2023 BKM DCS: A New Chapter in Mid-Size Crossover Performance
December 13, 2019
Detroit, MI — Emerson Performance announces the redesign of its mid-size crossover, the BKM SV-4, for 2023 as the Emerson Performance BKM DCS. Building on the trim of the BKS DCS mid-size sedan, the new BKM DCS brings elevated performance, refined engineering, and a bold design evolution to the crossover segment.
Originally launched in 2015, the BKM SV-4 earned over $16 billion in profits, powered by a 224-horsepower 1.5L Emerson Performance-tuned engine and an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Now, as the platform reaches its fifth year of production, Emerson Performance is unveiling a successor that raises the bar.
The 2023 BKM DCS features:
- A 306-horsepower upgraded engine
- The new Generation 5 8-speed transmission, improving 0–60 mph acceleration by 2 seconds
- A top speed increase from 111 to 126 mph
- A 4-inch reduction in overall length and a 10-pound weight gain, optimizing handling and cabin dynamics
While the new model sacrifices some fuel efficiency—23.3 mpg, down from 30—the tradeoff is a more aggressive, performance-focused driving experience that aligns with Emerson Performance’s evolving brand identity.
Perhaps most notably, the 2023 redesign achieves these gains while reducing development costs by $30 million, despite a $10,000 increase in material costs—a testament to Emerson’s engineering efficiency and strategic sourcing.
“The BKM DCS is more than a nameplate revival—it’s a performance renaissance,” said a spokesperson for Emerson Performance. “We’ve taken everything that made the SV-4 a success and infused it with next-generation power, agility, and design logic. This is the crossover for drivers who demand more.”
The 2023 Emerson Performance BKM DCS will arrive in dealerships nationwide in 2023.
