2021 Dork Relate SE is the final addition to commemorate the end of the Relate line.
This unveiling comes as Emerson Motor Company (EMC) is realigning the Dork brand as near-luxury, a move that opens the door for the Emerson Motors BKE Dual S, which is due in showrooms by the start of the year.
As of today, it remains unclear if Emerson Performance will grace the BKE or have a performance model.
The 2021 Emerson Motors BKE Dual S will utilize a modified version of the 2.5L straight six producing 301 horsepower and 259 foot-pounds of torque to all four wheels, shared with the Emerson Motors BKG full-size SUV. This is more powerful than the outgoing Emerson Performance Relate EP's 276 horsepower.
In addition to the extra power, the BKE Dual S is 4 inches longer than the front-wheel-drive Dork Relate SE Ultra. This improvement increases cargo capacity to 34 cubic feet over the 31 found in the Ultra. This increase is partially due to the use of a 120-inch over the 109 found in the Relate.
The 120-inch all-wheel-drive platform was slated to be discontinued with the discontinuation of the Emerson Motors E-FSS electric full-size sedan, prompting the engineers to suggest using the 109 wheelbase. While this would have saved the company revenue by adding another sedan to that platform, the negatives outweighed the positives. With this on our mind, we made a decision to bring back the Emerson Motors BKE sedan on the 120 wheelbase.
Other improvements over the Relate are in handing at 82%, up from 72. Safety has increased by 2%, dependability by 6%, and overall by 2%.
Performance of this 3,082-pound sedan to 60 is 4.9 seconds, and it achieves the quarter mile in 12.6 seconds at 113 miles per hour.
The 2020 Dork Myth Ultra 2 makes its debut this month, slotting above the Myth 2WD mid-size SUV, offering customers more luxury features until the Ultra 4 arrives.
