Updates to GearCity: SimulationGC7 has taught me a better understanding of GearCity

Non-Player Characters (NPCS)

NPCs are in almost every game. GearCity is no different from this formula, but with a different interaction. So, where do you look for these people, and how do they affect gameplay? As mentioned prior, they are everywhere throughout the game. They reside in the artificial intelligence (AI) logic and, most notably, in the background events that occur at each turn.

You are running your company. Your day is going fine. You are in an office that has three visible walls and a door that leads outside, according to the bankruptcy screen. However, if you look at things from this perspective, bankruptcy will most definitely be at your office doorstep. If you choose to take the other direction, then you will surely encounter them (NPCS).

Ever wonder whom you are selling vehicles to and who your competition is? They are all NPCs wrapped in AI logic, which is who they answer to on occasion. At other times, they contact the player with interactive prompts that indicate whether they are interested in your product or prefer the competition. This is an important metric, as it will provide you with rich information moving forward. Much like the video presenters on YouTube, the NPCs operate similarly. If you choose to watch the YouTuber's video in-game, the NPCs want you to interact with them through reviews, staffing, the union, human resources, and executive actions. Providing a choice to venture past the vanilla structure, there are other touch points.

Is it necessary to interact with the NPCs in GearCity? Yes, that is the main objective of the game. They need to identify their need and address it before AI corporations provide the vehicle they are looking for or need. This is done through vehicle design, research, comparisons, and financial strategy.
